Few-nucleon scattering experiments at intermediate energies

چکیده

Observables in few-nucleon scattering processes are sensitive probes to study the two and manybody interactions between nucleons in nuclei. In the past decades, several facilities provided a large data base to study in detail the few-nucleon interactions below the pion-production threshold by exploiting polarized proton and deuteron beams and large-acceptance detectors. In this contribution, some recent results are discussed and interpreted by rigorous Faddeev calculations which are based upon modern potentials. Furthermore, the paper presents preliminary results from a pioneering and exclusive study of the four-nucleon scattering process at intermediate energies which was recently conducted at the KVI.

Special Relativity and Reactions with Unstable Nuclei

Dynamical relativistic effects are often neglected in the description of reactions with unstable nuclear beams at intermediate energies (ELab ≈ 100 MeV/nucleon). Evidently, this introduces sizable errors in experimental analysis and theoretical descriptions of these reactions. This is particularly important for the experiments held in GANIL/France, MSU/USA, RIKEN/Japan and GSI/Germany. I review...

Differential Cross Section of Dp-elastic Scattering at Intermediate Energies

The deuteron-proton elastic scattering is studied in the multiple scattering expansion formalism. The contributions of the one-nucleon-exchange, singleand double scattering are taken into account. The Love and Franey parameterization of the nucleon-nucleon t-matrix is used, that gives an opportunity to include the off-energy-shell effects into calculations. Differential cross sections are consi...

Neutron scattering measurements at intermediate energies

The study of elastic neutron scattering at intermediate energies is essential for the understanding of the isovector term in the nucleon-nucleus interaction, as well as for the development of macroscopic and microscopic optical potentials at these energies. The techniques used for neutron scattering measurements is presented in this paper, as well as the di culties encountered. The few faciliti...

Relativistic microscopic description of proton-nucleus scattering at intermediate energies.

We study elastic proton-nucleus scattering at intermediate energies. The nucleon-nucleus optical potential is derived from the Bonn nucleon-nucleon potential and the Dirac-Brueckner approach for nuclear matter. Our calculations , which do not contain any adjustable parameters, yield good agreement with experiment.

Parity Violation in Pp and Np Experiments

Parity violation experiments involving only two nucleons provide a way to study the non-leptonic, strangeness-conserving part of the weak interaction in a clean measurement free of nuclear structure uncertainties. Such measurements are particularly appropriate for discussion at this conference as their success depends critically on the ability to accurately control and measure spin. Although si...
